The restaurant industry is facing a fundamental operational challenge. Labor shortages, rising wages, and increasing pressure on efficiency are forcing operators to rethink how kitchens function. Yet many of the most repetitive and labor-intensive tasks in food preparation remain manual. Pinto Robotics is building automation solutions designed specifically for commercial kitchens, helping restaurants improve consistency, reduce labor costs, and increase productivity without disrupting existing workflows.
Pinto Robotics' flagship product, PODS, is a compact countertop robot that automates the filling and sealing of portion cups for sauces, dressings, and condiments. By automating one of the most repetitive back-of-house tasks, PODS enables kitchens to operate more efficiently while improving portion consistency and freeing staff to focus on higher-value work. While PODS is the company's first product, Pinto Robotics' long-term vision is to develop a broader automation platform that helps restaurants streamline repetitive tasks across kitchen operations.
Branch Venture Group is proud to invest in Pinto Robotics as they bring practical automation to one of the world's largest industries. We believe Pinto Robotics stands out for four key reasons:
Improving Kitchen Efficiency Through Automation
Unlike traditional industrial robotics, Pinto's technology is purpose-built for the realities of commercial kitchens. PODS is designed to integrate seamlessly into existing restaurant workflows, allowing operators to adopt automation without major operational changes. As operators continue to navigate labor shortages and rising operating costs, we believe practical automation solutions like PODS will become an increasingly important part of modern commercial kitchen operations.
Strong Early Commercial Validation
Pinto has already moved beyond the prototype stage, producing multiple commercial units and securing early customer deployments. The company is actively piloting its systems with leading foodservice operators while preparing for broader commercial rollout, demonstrating strong early demand for its technology. Interest from leading restaurant brands demonstrates both the demand for kitchen automation and Pinto's ability to execute with industry-leading partners.
An Experienced, Mission-Driven Team
Pinto Robotics was founded by Gustavo Castillo, who grew up working in his family's restaurant and experienced firsthand the repetitive, labor-intensive work that still defines many commercial kitchens today. Combining that industry insight with engineering and business degrees from MIT, Gustavo brings both technical expertise and deep customer understanding to the company's vision. He is joined by a highly technical founding team with expertise across mechanical engineering, software, electronics, manufacturing, and commercialization, providing the multidisciplinary capabilities required to build and scale robotics for the foodservice industry.
Strong Manufacturing Partnership with Arch
Pinto Robotics has a contracted partnership with Showa-Arch, a leading commercial kitchen equipment manufacturer, sales, and distributor. Not only do they execute Pinto’s vision with high-quality manufacturing standards, but they also offer long-term relationships with leading global restaurant chains.
We're excited to partner with the Pinto Robotics team as they help modernize restaurant operations through intelligent automation. To learn more about Pinto Robotics, visit https://www.pintorobotics.com.
